The 2017 lineup included:

  • Robin & Linda Williams - For more than four decades, Robin & Linda Williams have made it their mission to perform the music that they love, "a robust blend of bluegrass, folk, old-time and acoustic country that combines wryly observant lyrics with a wide-ranging melodicism."  Perennial favorites at the Grove, Robin & Linda have a huge national following and continue to gather acolades.  More at
  • David Holt - Four-time Grammy Award winner David Holt is a musician, storyteller, historian, television host and entertainer, dedicated to performing and preserving traditional American music and stories. Holt plays ten acoustic instruments and has released numerous recordings of traditional mountain music and southern folktales. More at
  • The April Verch Band - While Verch is perhaps best known for playing traditional fiddle styles from her native Ottawa Valley, Canada, her performances extend into old-time American and Appalachian styles and beyond, for a well-rounded tour-de-force of North Americana sounds. Verch tours with world-class musicians Cody Walters and Alex Rubin, featuring acoustic guitar, mandolin, bass and clawhammer banjo in addition to Verch’s vocals, fiddle and foot percussion. More at
  • Trifolkal - Singer/songwriters Laura Pole, Greg Trafidlo, & Neal Phillips have been performing together since 1989. Their music is an eclectic blend of original and traditional favorites, along with tunes by some of today’s best songwriters. More at
  • Johathan Byrd & The Pickup Cowboy - Jonathan Byrd is a preacher's son, a Gulf War veteran, and an award-winning songwriter from Chapel Hill, North Carolina, known for literary, outsider songs that have become campfire favorites. The Chicago Tribune called Byrd "one of the top 50 songwriters of the past 50 years." More at
  • John Lilly -John Lilly's original, traditional, and classic country music hits home and rings true. From hidden masterpieces by Hank Williams, Jimmie Rodgers, and the Louvin Brothers to ancient folk ballads and creative original songs, John Lilly presents music of unusual depth and sincerity.   • Wonky Tonk -  Wonky Tonk, aka Jasmine Poole, is a Kentucky singer/song-writer who says her increasingly acclaimed style is a "punk cowgirl aesthetic"   She is described as brash and vulnerable with the directness of Loretta Lynn, and a style that breaks the mold.  More at
  • Parker & Gray - Parker & Gray describe themselves as "a music duo out to preserve acoustic blues, folk and soul, while breaking ground on new flavors as well." An award-winning blues duo, they are making their first appearance at the Grove.  More on Facebook.
  • The Onlies play original and traditional fiddle-driven music, with Celtic, old-time American, and Canadian roots. Members Leo Shannon, Riley Calcagno, and Sami Braman are Garfield High School (Seattle) seniors who’ve literally played together since they were two years old.  More at
  • The Red Hill Band - Hailing from the heart of the beautiful Shenandoah Valley in Virginia, Dave, Jeff and John have formed a group that plays the best that music has to offer. It’s Americana…  And more. More at

A long tradition of outstanding performers in the intimate Oak Grove setting...  Music at its best!  


 The Oak Grove Folk Music Festival is held annually, produced by Theater Wagon and takes place in the Oak Grove Theater just north of Staunton, Virginia. The festival is three days of traditional and not-so-traditional folk music variety, mixing national acts, regional touring artists and the best of the local folk music scene.

The Oak Grove Folk Music Festival features three days of fantastic folk and acoustic music.  Three concerts, workshops, open mike Saturday, and a gospel sing Sunday morning...  All in a beautiful setting under the oak trees.
