Carrie Newcomer
returns to the Grove with her marvelous musical
clarity. Wayne
Henderson, appearing with Helen White,
will bounce some marvelous finger-pickin' off the old
Oaks.
Si Kahn,
long-time community activist and musician, will fill
the air with his songs of family, community, work and
freedom. His son Gabe will appear with him Friday evening.
Barry & Holly Tashian
will provide some powerful harmonies and great
instrumental work, and more. The
Magnolia Sisters
will bring their mix of Creole, Cajun and front porch
ballads, and
The Judy Chops,
a local group catching a lot of attention, will blend
pop, swing, traditional, bluegrass and country.
The Cinnamon Band
will join Gabe Kahn and local newcomer
Sarah Lynna & Misfit Toys for the Friday night
emerging artists concert. If it rains, the show will go on, under the pavilion.
The 2012 Oak Grove Folk Music Festival will be held
August 3 - 5 in the Oak Grove Theater just north of
Staunton, Virginia. It'll be three days of
traditional and non-so-traditional folk.
